Volunteer Opportunities

About Us

Our organization is comprised entirely of volunteers. Our Board of Directors includes people who volunteer on a regular basis, plus representatives of the churches in North Reading.

Volunteer Requirements

All of our volunteers must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be able to stand for two hours
  • Be able to read expiration dates on food labels (it's harder than you think!)
  • Be able to lift at least 25 pounds
  • Maintain confidentiality of our clients

Volunteer Hours

Volunteers fill the following time slots on a regular basis:

  • Mondays: 8:00am - 10:30am
  • First & Third Mondays: 6:30pm - 8:30pm
  • Fridays: 11:00am - 12:30pm

Volunteer Responsibilities

These are some of the jobs that our volunteers do:

  • Sort food donations by type and expiration date
  • Stock shelves
  • Fill orders of fresh and frozen foods
  • Bag orders
  • Carry orders

Drivers

We also need drivers to drive to the Greater Boston Food Bank on Friday mornings. Please contact us if you are interested in this opportunity.
