About the North Reading Food Pantry

About the Food Pantry

The North Reading Food Pantry is a program of Christian Community Service (CCS). The mission of Christian Community Service is to provide assistance to local persons in their time of need; "assistance" is defined as emergency financial support and/or the use of the resources of the food pantry.  We also help provide unified spiritual enrichment to the community, including ecumenical events, such as Christmas on the Common, and an Easter Sunrise Service. We serve more than 100 local families on a regular basis. CCS/ North Reading Food Pantry is grateful for the support of the entire community in making these programs work for all of us.

The North Reading Food Pantry is now located in its new home in the center of town at 150 Haverhill Street, thanks to the support of the North Reading community through the NRFP HOME Fund.

The Food Pantry has been in operation since 1996, with an all-volunteer staff and board, and is a 501(c)3 non-profit, tax-exempt organization as part of CCS. All donations are tax-deductible.

Beyond the Food Pantry

The Food Pantry helps households in need on a regular basis. In addition to the pantry, Christian Community Services (CCS) provides many additional services throughout the year.

  • Financial Assistance is available on an emergency basis, on a case-by-case basis.
  • Holiday Dinners at Thanksgiving and Christmas are an important part of our mission.
  • Take-a-Tag Program provides Christmas gifts for children.
  • Back-to-School for school age children provides backpacks and school supplies.

All of these programs are available due to the contributions we receive from the community. From big food drives, such as the Post Office "Stamp Out Hunger" day, to the Neighbors Helping Neighbors campaign in the North Reading Transcript, we rely on the generosity of donors like you.
